2014 HIU Golf Marathon Raises Record Amount for Student Scholarships

The 8th Annual Golf Marathon was held on Monday, May 19, at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes. The 2014 event raised over $50,000 for the second consecutive year. This year"s fundraiser brought in a record $51,500. The event has now raised more than $350,000 since its inception in 2007.

"I'm amazed at the commitment of our players and sponsors," Troy Gardner, HIU's Director of Church Relations & Development, reported. "The amount raised for scholarships and programs in one day is fantastic, and we all enjoyed a perfect day along the coast."

This year"s Golf Marathon featured a full field of 25 players who enjoyed spectacular ocean views. The day concluded with an awards dinner at Nelson"s, one of Terranea Resort"s premiere restaurants. Awards for the Hole-in-One and other contests were handed out and the top sponsors were recognized for their part in making the tournament a success. Jim Taylor was honored as the Top Fundraiser for the 2014 event.

This year"s sponsors included University Trustee Glenn Carpenter (Course Sponsor) and Church Development Fund (Tournament Sponsor). Additional corporate sponsors included Caliber Media Group, Christ"s Church of the Valley San Dimas, Eclectic Associates, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., Journey Christian Church, Payne's Janitorial, Peter C. Foy & Associates, Proline Electric, The Wright Image, Scott"s Screenprinting, Budd"s All Stars, Landmark Sports Agency, Solid T, The Store @ ASC, TiGeorge"s Chicken, and Kemp Brother Construction.
