Men's Volleyball Captures NAIA National Conference Championship

MERCED, Calif. – The HIU Royals men’s volleyball team rolled through the 2015 NAIA National Men’s Volleyball Conference tournament with a 3-0 record and captured first place to earn the automatic bid into the NAIA Men’s Volleyball National Invitational Tournament championship Apr. 23-25 in St. Louis, Mo., on the campus of Missouri Baptist.

With the victories, Hope improved to 14-12 on the season. They began the tournament with a three set win over Warner University (28-26, 25-21, 25-22), then followed that up with a four set win over Concordia University-Irvine (25-23, 25-23, 20-25, 25-18) and a four set win over University of California-Merced in four (26-24, 21-25, 14-25, 25-27). This is the first national tournament appearance for the Royals since 2012.

HIU’s Shane Beatty (Tournament MVP, Setter of the Year) and Dominique Blonski both earned All-Tournament and All-Conference Team honors. Scotty Chapel and Phillip Lopez were named to the Second Team All-Conference.
