Posted: May 1, 2013

HIU has a new addition to the Institutional Advancement team. In April, Lindsey Shiomi was named as the new Assistant Director of Institutional Advancement. Lindsey’s hiring will help alumni and friends to have a central person to keep in contact with, and also to reconnect with the University. Prior to her joining HIU, Lindsey was the Alumni Relations Coordinator at the University of La Verne. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in 2008 from ULV and is currently studying there to complete her Master of Science degree in Leadership Management, with an emphasis in Organizational Leadership.

Lindsey also held positions of Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach, at both La Verne and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College, and was the Interim Head Women’s Basketball Coach at ULV in 2009-10.

In college, Lindsey was a three year starter on the women’s basketball team, where she led her team to the conference championship in 2007, the conference tournament champions in 2008 and competed in the NCAA Tournament both years. She earned all-conference honors three consecutive years in 2006, 2007 and 2008. She holds the La Verne career record for assists (315) and set a La Verne single-game mark for three-point field goals, when she went a perfect eight for eight against Pomona-Pitzer on Feb. 22, 2007.

In her prior Alumni Relations position, Lindsey was in charge of numerous regional events, homecoming weekend, alumni communications, budget and various related alumni department activities and projects. At HIU, Lindsey will have a wide range of Advancement duties, some of which will include, coordinating Alumni communications, regional events, the Hope Associate’s giving club, assisting with capital campaigns, student scholarship phone-a-thon and special events.

“In a short amount of time Lindsey has proven to be an invaluable part of the IA team,” said Michael Mulryan, Vice President for Institutional Advancement. “Her prior experience at other higher education institutions and her skills set is a perfect match for her role here at HIU. Lindsey is a very intelligent, organized, detail oriented and hard working professional. She has been well received by everyone she has come into contact with. I feel very fortunate to have Lindsey here at HIU and I am sure all our Alumni, donors, faculty, staff and those in the local community will enjoy working with her. She has a very bright future here at Hope and in the field of Advancement.”
