1/29/2008 - Hardeman Just Misses Double-Double Against Sunbirds
Fullerton, CA- Hope International tried to match-up against one of the hottest teams in the GSAC- Fresno Pacific (winners of 5 in a row). Unfortunately, the Royals fell 83-61. Senior Travis Hardeman finished one rebound shy of a double-double.
The Sunbirds (16-5, 7-4 GSAC) used a balance attack (four players in double figures) and 10 3 pointers to subdue the Royals. Todd Brown finished with a game high 14 points for the Sunbirds. Ilija Kalajdzic scored 12 points in 12 minutes off the bench. Jordan Farley and Andrew David both finished with 11 points. David lead the 3 point barrage with 3 triples.
Besides shooting 4 of 10 from the field, Hardeman had a solid game all around. He finished with a team high13 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Sophomore Michael Johnson, who wears number 34, should think about changing his number to 35 as he hit 3 of 5 from the field and 3 of 5 from the line. He finished with 9 points.
Juniors Arron Boone and Ryan Sewitsky both had 8 points.
The Royals (1-15, 1-9 GSAC) return to action on Thursday at Vanguard in Costa Mesa. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm as the back end of a GSAC double header with the women. The game will be broadcast on Stretch Internet.
