2/26/2008 - Boone Pair of 15’s Does Not Slow Eagles

Fullerton, CA- Junior Arron Boone’s 15 points and season high 15 rebounds was not near enough against #7 Concordia in GSAC action on Tuesday. The Eagles finished with four in double figures and defeated the Royals, 89-58.

For one of the few times this season, the Royals were not out rebounded by their opponent as both teams finished with 46 rebounds. Combining Boone’s 15 rebounds and Freshman Mario Neely’s 9 boards, in just 16 minutes off the bench, the two accounted more than half of the Royals’ rebounds.

Boone also added a game high 5 blocks to his double double- his second of the season.

Senior Travis Hardeman, playing for the final time against the team that he played for as a freshman, picked up 10 points for the Royals.

The Royals (1-24, 1-17 GSAC) just could not keep up with the athleticism of the Eagles (23-4, 14-4 GSAC). The Royals committed 23 turnovers for the game with 14 of them coming via an Eagle’s steal. Four Eagles finished with 3 steals.

As for scoring for the Eagles, Ryan Read lead all scorers with 24 points which includes 6 three pointers. Not to be out done, Terrence Worthy knocked down 15 points- all from behind the three point line.

On Saturday, the Royals will hit the road for the final time this season as they travel to Santa Barbara to square off against GSAC foe Westmont. Tip-off for the second game of the double header with the women is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
