1/26/2008 - Royals Finish 2-2 at Lindenwood Invitational
St. Charles, MO- Hope International played four matches in St. Charles, Missouri, at the Lindenwood Invitational. They split 2-2.
In the first match they squared off against Johnson and Wales from Denver, CO, and won 3 games to 1 (30-24, 30-21, 28-30, 30-24). With the win, the Royals improved to 1-1.
The second match found Hope International squaring off tournament host Lindenwood. The Lions proved too much for the Royals as they defeated them 3-1 (30-22, 28-30, 30-26, 30-28). The injury bug also started to haunt the Royals during this match as well. The Royals dropped to 1-2.
On Saturday, in their third match of the tournament, the Royals went head-to-head with the Vikings of Missouri Valley. The Royals improved to 2-2 with a 3-1 win. They won 30-19, 28-30, 30-24, and 30-19.
For their fourth and final match of the Invitational, the Royals took on last year’s NAIA runner-up Park from Missouri. The Pirates showed they are once again a force to be reckoned with in the NAIA by knocking off the Royals 3-1. The Royals took game 1 by a score of 30-27. However, the Pirates took the next three games (30-21, 30-24, 33-31). The loss dropped the Royals back under the .500 mark at 2-3.
