2/1/2008 - Tigers Handle Royals
Fullerton, CA- Hope International squared off against NCAA Division I Princeton inside the Darling Pavilion on Friday night. The Tigers dominated the Royals from beginning to end as they won 3-0 (30-23, 30-23, 30-28).
The Royals (3-6) were lead offensively by Freshman Andrew Speth who finished with 11 kills on 22 attacks and just 2 errors. He also picked up 2 service aces. Junior Richard Camerlengo got into the act with 7 kills on 10 attempts and only 1 error.
Junior Shawn Cui paced the offense with 34 assists to go along with 2 service aces.
Unfortunately, the Royals were unable to contain the Tiger’s steady and balanced offense. Setter Brandon Denham spread the ball around to 9 different attackers in the process of picking up 41 assists. All the Tigers that attempted at least one attack finished with a kill.
Overall, the Tigers (1-2) hit .407 as a team including a whooping .609 in the second game.
Carl Hamming and Peter Eichler lead the Tiger’s offense with 11 and 10 kills respectively. Jeff McCown helped the cause as well with 7 kills on 9 attacks and no errors.
The Tigers wrapped up a three match California road trip with the win. They also played Cal Baptist and UC San Diego- losing both matches 3-1.
The Royals return to the hardwood inside the Darling Pavilion on Wednesday, February 2nd, at 7 pm against UC San Diego.
