1/26/2008 - Warriors Lesser of Two Evils Against Royals
Fullerton, CA- Hope International slugged it out against Westmont on Saturday night and fell 62-54. In a game where both teams shot less 30% percent for most of the night, Senior Jasmine Nault managed to knock down 22 points and 15 rebounds- her 7th double-double of the season.
The Royals (13-8, 4-5 GSAC) held the Warriors (13-4, 5-4 GSAC) to 19 of 64 (29.7%) from the field but in turn were held to a season low 31% from the field (18-58).
Nault struggled from the field like everyone else (6-18) but made up for it by hitting 10 of 11 free throws. She has scored 20 points or more in 20 of the Royals’ 21 games.
Junior Sarah Nylander finished with 10 points. Freshman Brittani Philbrook contributed 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. Senior Allison Wulff was second the Royals with 8 rebounds to go along with 6 points and all four of the Royals’ blocks.
The Warriors out rebounded the Royals (50-43) and made just enough 3 pointers (7 versus the Royals’ 4) to pull out the win.
Guard Amber Stevens had a huge game for the Warriors coming just 2 assists shy of completing a triple-double. She finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, and just 2 turnovers.
Jessica Case was dialed in from long range as she knocked down five 3 pointers to finish with 22 points for the Warriors.
The Royals will try and find their shooting touch in time to square of against Fresno Pacific on Tuesday inside the Darling Pavilion. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm as the first game of a GSAC double header.
