Fullerton, CA- The Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) announced today that Hope International University’s Freshman Guard Brittani Philbrook has been named the GSAC’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Last week, Philbrook, out of Norco High School in Norco, CA, averaged 16.5 points, 9 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 3 blocks, and 1 steal in two GSAC games.
On the road at California Baptist on Tuesday, she had 16 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 blocks in a tough 88-85 loss for the Royals. At home on Saturday, the Royals upset the NAIA’s #15 The Master’s 65-63. Philbrook finished with 17 points including 4 three pointers, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks, and 2 steals.
With the win on Saturday, the Royals almost certainly wrapped up a spot in the GSAC Postseason Tournament. The win also gave them a good shot at an invitation to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Tournament in Oakland City, IN, on March 13-15.
This is the first GSAC Player of Week award for Brittani Philbrook.
