3/13/2008 - Royals Win Round One at NCCAA Nationals

Oakland City, IN- Senior Jasmine Nault scored a game high 28 points while Freshman Brittany Philbrook added 23 points as the Royals defeated the Trojans of Trinity International 79-76 in the first round of the NCCAA National Tournament.

Philbrook gave the Royals the lead on a layup with 16 seconds to play.

Junior Stephanie Wenke iced the game as she stole the ensuing in bounds pass, was eventually fouled, and made two free throws. She finished with 15 points.

Head Coach Dave Ploog said “Their pressure caused us lots of problems but we had big shots from Brittany, Jasmine, and Stephanie.”

With the win, the Royals cannot finish lower than fourth in the eight team tournament.

Tomorrow the #3 seeded Royals will square off with the #2 seeded Roberts Wesleyan at 5:00 (3:00 PST). The Raiders defeated Mid-Continent 72-59 earlier in the day.
