3/31/2008 - Jasmine Nault Named NAIA All-American

Photo - Jasmine NaultFullerton, CA- For the second year in a row, Senior Forward Jasmine Nault was named to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-American Team. She led the NAIA Division I in scoring with 25.6 points per game.

Nault, from Anaheim, CA, finished as the third highest scorer in the nation throughout all of women’s college basketball. For some perspective, the nation’s leading scorer came from the NAIA Division II with an average just over 30 points per game while the second leading scorer is from the NCAA’s Division I (27.4).

As Hope International’s all-time leading scorer in Women’s Basketball, Nault wrapped up her brilliant four year playing career with 2,465 points and 1,039 rebounds. She eclipsed the 2,400 point mark by scoring her 24th of 28 points against Trinity International in the first game of the National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCAA) National Women’s Basketball Tournament.

The week prior in the first round of the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) Tournament against Vanguard, the eventual NAIA National Champion, the third of Nault’s eight rebounds made her a member of the thousand rebound club- only the third Royal ever to accomplish that task.

A big part of Nault’s game was her uncanny ability to get herself to the free throw line. She is Hope International’s career leader in free throws made (756) and attempted (971). As a Senior, she hit 260 of 319 free throw attempts.

On her way to a career high 36 points at Concordia-Irvine this last season, she hit 13-16 free throw attempts. The 13th converted attempt proved to be the game winner as the Royals won 77-76. Her career high in attempts (19) and makes (17) came as a Sophomore on the road at Westmont.

Nault, a three time All-GSAC performer, led the Royals in scoring and rebounding all four years she played. As a freshman, she averaged 11.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Her average jumped up to 18 points and 7.7 rebounds as a sophomore. She finished over the 20 point average (20.1) while pulling down 9.4 rebounds as a Junior.

On her way to 25.6 points and 8.6 rebounds as a Senior, she scored twenty or more points in 33 of the 36 games played by the Royals. She also finished with a GSAC high 14 double-doubles as a Senior with a total of 39 for her career.

Nault will graduate in May from Hope International University with a degree in Psychology.
