11/20/2007 - Four Royals Reach Double Figures in Win Over Sunbirds
Fresno, CA- In the GSAC Opener, the Royals defeated Fresno Pacific 78-62 in Fresno on Tuesday. The Royals had four players reach double figures lead by Jasmine Nault's 25 points.
The Royals (6-1) used a mixed of back doors cuts and screens to put the Sunbird defense on their heels. Freshman Brittani Philbrook and Junior Sarah Nylander took advantage of their open looks to drop in 17 and 16 points respectively. Not to be out done, Junior Stephanie Wenke added 10 points.
Senior Cynthia Hernandez lead the way finding all the back door cutters by picking up a game high 7 assists.
Along with Nault scoring 25 points, she finished with a game high 13 rebounds to pick up her 2nd double-double of the season.
For the Sunbirds (4-4), Amber Prudie finished with a double-double herself (13 points, 12 rebounds) to keep her team close. Bricali Cooley managed 11 points while Kari Cox finished with 8 and 10 rebounds.
The Royals head back out on the road on Thursday (Thanksgiving) to drive to Colorado to play in the Holiday Inn Classic. They are scheduled to play Metro State on Friday and California-Pennsylvania on Saturday.
