12/01/2007 - Nylander's 5 Three Pointers Not Enough

San Diego, CA- Hope International went head-to-head with GSAC foe Point Loma Nazarene on Saturday on the road and fell 96-60. Junior Sarah Nylander knocked down 15 points- all from behind the three point line.

The Sea Lions (5-1, 2-1 GSAC) used a stifling full court defense to slow down the Royals (9-2, 2-1 GSAC). The Royals were forced into 19 turnovers with the majority of them taking place around mid-court or in the backcourt.

When Hope did get the ball into the frontcourt, Point Loma did not make life any easier. The Sea Lions finished with 10 blocked shots. The blocked shots and turnovers allowed the Royals to only score 60 points- tying their season low.

Senior Jasmine Nault with 20 points, including 6 of 6 from the free throw line, and Nylander's 15 were not enough to keep the Royals close.

Meanwhile, four players scored in double figures for the Sea Lions. Meghan McGuire lead the way with 20 points on 9-10 shooting with her one miss coming on her only three point attempt. Kerra Sutton-Wodarski dropped in 17 points. Brittany Dove and Katie Hilbelink rounded out the digit scoring with 11 and 10.

The Royals get a break from GSAC play until after the new year. However, they play again Saturday at home against Pomona-Pitzer. Tip-off is scheduled for 6pm in the Darling Pavilion.
