9/24/2007 - Women's Soccer Sweeps Through Northern California

The Women's Soccer team recently finished up a Northern California road trip where they went 3-0 and outscored their opponents 11-1. Freshman Harmony Pruett led the scoring barrage with 5 goals on the trip.

The Royals first game of the trip was a neutral site affair against William Jessup University at Simpson University. Hope won the game 6-1. Freshman Yvonne Aguilar opened up the scoring by running onto a perfectly placed ball by fellow Freshman Kylie McCormick and found the back of the net. The Warriors answered to tie the score on a perfectly executed free kick as Alexandria Wilborn put the ball on the head of Kelsey Gleason- who scored. It was all Royals from there. Senior Shaunna Drivdahl scored three goals in row off crosses- two from Sophomore Kelly Galligan and one from Junior Jennifer Love. Pruett finished off the scoring with two breakaway goals with Sophomore Hope Lambert picking up an assist on one of the goals. The Royals out shot the Warriors 29-4. Hope improved to 4-1-1 on the season with the win.

Game two of the road trip found the Royals back at Simpson Field to face off with the home team Simpson University. Hope picked up their third shutout of the season with a 3-0 win. The Royals only allowed the Red Hawks to get off three shots. Junior Goalkeeper Ana Ahumada anchored the defense with 3 saves. Pruett opened and finished the scoring with her fifth and sixth goals of the season. Sophomore Leslie White was credited with an assist on one of the goals. Sandwiched in between was Freshman Clare Wohlfeil's first goal of the season. Lambert delivered her second assist in as many days on the goal. The ladies improved to 5-1-1 on the season.

After a day off, Hope traveled to Oakland to play a rare Monday game against Holy Names University. The road trip ended with a Royals win, 2-0. Freshman Alexis Abbott notched her first goal of the season off an assist from White. Pruett iced the game with her team high 7th goal of the season. Aguilar earned her first assist on the play. With their fourth shutout, the Royals improved to an impressive 6-1-1 on the year.

The Royals will open their tough GSAC schedule on the road this Saturday against San Diego Christian at 12 p.m.
