10/02/2007 - Lancers Hold Off Royals

Riverside, CA- Hope International traveled down the 91 freeway on Tuesday afternoon to square off against GSAC rival Cal Baptist. The Lancers held on to beat the Royals, 2-1. Freshman Harmony Pruett scored the only goal for Hope.

CBU's Lizzy Bendrick was the star of the day. She scored an unassisted goal in the 41st minute from 35 yards out. The Lancers (8-2, 3-0 GSAC) kept their 1-0 halftime lead until Bendrick struck again. Bendrick took a pass from Arianna Triassi just outside the box and drilled it into the net.

Down 2-0, with time running out, the Royals (7-4-1, 1-3 GSAC) did not give up. Pruett finally found the back of the back of the net in 89th minute. Besides the goal scored by CBU's Bendrick, the Royals kept the Lancers from getting a shot on goal in the second half. All seven of Rebecca Dixon's saves came in the game's first half.

The Royals will look to end their current three game losing streak at GSAC rival Biola next Wednesday (10/10) at 3pm.
