2/7/2008 - Royals Come Up Just Short Against Tigers
Los Angeles, CA- Hope International lost 5-4 to Occidental on Thursday afternoon. Junior Minette Steyn and Freshman Alexandra Weiss combined for three of the Royals’ four points- one each in singles and one in doubles.
The Royals (0-2) and the Tigers (1-0) matched each other swing for swing down to the final singles match.
Unfortunately, the Royals had to give up a point by default as Senior Allison Hotz was unable to play her singles match due to illness.

1. Minette Steyn won 2-0 (6-3, 6-3)
2. Alexandra Weiss won 2-0 (6-4, 6-1)
3. Kristine Brock lost 2-0 (4-6, 2-6)
4. Brittney Munoz lost 2-0 (2-6, 2-6)
5. McKenna Hamel lost 2-0 (0-6, 2-6)
6. Allison Hotz lost by default (due to illness)
Doubles
1. Steyn/ Weiss won 8-4
2. Brock/Munoz won 8-6
3. Hamel/Hotz lost 7-9
The Royals return to action on Wednesday as they host CSU San Bernardino in their season home opener. The match is scheduled to start at 2:00 pm at CSU Fullerton.
