E. David Radford, Associate Athletic Director & Head Men's & Women's Tennis Coach

Photo - E. David RadfordOver the past two seasons, head coach E. David Radford has guided the men's and women's tennis programs to their best seasons ever thanks to a combined 7 wins during the 2005 season.

During this past season, Radford guided the Royals' men's program to their best finish ever thanks to an overall record of 5-10. In those five wins, Hope defeated NCAA Division III members Whittier (twice), La Sierra (twice), and Albion (MI). On the women's side, Radford guided the Royals to their best season ever thanks to an overall record of 2-18, which included wins over NCAA Division III members Whittier and La Sierra.

In 2004, Radford began his collegiate coaching career at Hope International University and began to turn the men's and women's programs around. Both teams competed against some of the toughest competition in the nation and were part of the one of the toughest conferences in the nation, as they took on nationally ranked teams almost every time that they stepped onto the court. Both the men's and women's programs showcased the University, their love for the game, and their passion for Christ each and every day.

Radford comes to Hope International from Millikan High School, which is located in Long Beach, CA, and has been involved in tennis in one facet or another for the past fifty years.

Radford began as a player in 1953 and continued through the collegiate ranks at CSU Long Beach in 1958 & 1959. After receiving his degree from CSULB, Radford began teaching tennis at Pepperdine University Tennis Clinic, Murrieta Tennis Clinic, Coto de Caza Tennis Clinic, and Pala Mesa Double Clinic from 1964-1977.

In 1964, Radford began his tennis-coaching career as the head coach for the boys' junior varsity team at Long Beach Poly. After taking ten years away from coaching tennis, Radford returned as head coach of the boys' varsity team at Millikan High School where he led them to 3 CIF appearances in his 7 seasons. Before moving onto Hope, Radford helped lead the girls' varsity team at Millikan to 2 CIF appearances from 1997-2002.

Besides his duties as head men's & women's tennis coach, Radford was appointed Associate Athletic Director, effective June 1st, in charge of the athletic department staff and student workers.

Radford is a member of Parkcrest Christian Church where he has served as the mission director since 1996. Radford currently reside with his wife, Eva, in Long Beach, California. The couple has four children, Camilla (41), Christine (38), David (22), and Aimee (20).
