9/8/2007 - Volleyball back to .500 in GSAC
San Diego, CA- For the second weekend in a row, the Royals found themselves down in San Diego for a match. The Royals defeated GSAC Rival San Diego Christian, 3-1, to improve to 1-1 in GSAC competition. Overall, the Royals are 3-2 on the season.
Hope used a balanced attack to get the upper hand against San Diego Christian as five players had 7 kills or more. Sophomore Jillian Lane led the attack with 19 kills. Sophomore Debbie Beliakoff had 8 kills while hitting an outstanding .538 for the match. Freshman Chantel Gardner had 15 kills but also led the team with 6 blocks. Freshman Larissa Niu paced the offense with 55 assists to go along with 7 kills and 15 digs. Freshman Jocelyn Moya led the way defensively with 18 digs (one of four Royals in double digit digs).
Meggan Chapin and Tiffani Datu helped keep the match close for the Hawks with 20 and 10 kills respectively.
The Royals will open the Darling Pavilion for the sports season when they play host to GSAC rival Azusa Pacific on Tuesday.
