9/19/2007 - Royals Fall to #5 Eagles

Fullerton, CA- Hope International fell to No. 5 Biola by a score of 30-24, 30-20, 30-17 on Tuesday in a GSAC match inside the Darling Pavilion. Sophomore Jillian Lane led the Royals with 10 kills.

Hope falls to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in GSAC play while Biola remains undefeated at 12-0 overall and 5-0 in the GSAC.

The Eagles came out firing on all cylinders pounding down 25 kills as a team in the first game alone. The game was kept close due to Hope only having 4 hitting errors. However, the Royals shot themselves in the foot by committing 7 blocking errors in the game one. Lane had 6 of her 10 kills while Sophomore Debbie Beliakoff, who finished with 9 kills, contributed 4 kills in game one.

Games two and three belonged the Eagles as they clamped down defensively forcing the Royals into a combined 20 errors on 70 attempts with only 18 total kills. After knocking home about 29 percent of their attacks in game one, the Royals fell into the negative hitting percentage in two and three.

The Eagles showed off their balance as a team with 3 players in double digit kills. Kelsey Christoferson had 12 kills on 18 attempts (67 percent) with no errors. Maggie McGill contributed 12 kills and Brittany Wing had 11 for Biola.

The Royals return to action this Thursday at 7 pm as they travel down to GSAC rival No. 19 Vanguard in Costa Mesa.
