10/13/2007 - Royals Sweep Series Against San Diego Christian
Fullerton, CA- The Women's Volleyball Team swept the season series against GSAC foe San Diego Christian on Saturday by winning 3-1 (30-24, 30-24, 27-30, 30-13). Sophomore Jillian Lane led the way with 21 kills.
The Royals (5-11, 3-9 GSAC) spread the wealth around as nine different players registered a kill. Along with her 21 kills, Lane had 18 digs to register her 10th double-double of the season. Sophomore Katrina Rosales led the team in hitting percentage (.389) while contributing 8 kills (including 4 kills in 4 attempts in game one). Sophomore Debbie Beliakoff also had 8 kills. Libero Shaina Record had a match high 21 digs.
Serving was a key to the Royals pulling out the win while at the same time almost their undoing as well. They set a season high in services aces with 14. However, they also committed 13 service errors (5 in game 3 which SDCC won)- their second highest error total of the season.
Megan Chappin tried to keep the Hawks (6-17, 0-12 GSAC) in the Hawks in the match with a double-double (11 kills and 16 digs). Tiffani Datu also had 11 kills while Brianne Stidham had 19 digs.
The Royals return to action this Tuesday (10/16) on the road at Azusa Pacific. The ladies are scheduled to serve it up at 7 pm.
