10/19/2007 - Royals Handle Bryan Lions

Fullerton, CA- On a rare Friday match for Hope, they faced off against Bryan College in a non-GSAC affair. The Royals defeated the Lions 3-0 (30-26, 30-16, 30-26) and set a season high hitting percentage (.327) in the process.

Freshman Ashley Travis led the charge with 11 kills on 13 attempts with no errors (.846 hitting percentage). Not to be outdone, Sophomore Debbie Beliakoff banged out 11 kills on 14 attempts also without any errors (.786). Overall, Sophomore Jillian Lane contributed another double-double for the season with 20 kills and 17 digs- both game highs. Freshman Larrisa Niu set a season high for assists in 3 games with 52.

Bryan College (16-9 overall) is located in Dayton, TN and is a member of the NAIA's Appalachian Athletic Conference. The Lions were led offensively by Robin Renfroe and Gabby Claxton with 7 kills each.

The Royals (6-12 overall) return to Golden State Athletic Conference play on Saturday against #2 Cal Baptist. Match time is set for 7 pm.
