11/10/2007 - Royals Close Out Season with Loss to The Master's
Santa Clarita, CA- The Royals finished off their season on the road against GSAC rival The Master's with a very competitive 3-1 loss (30-28, 28-30, 30-25, 30-28). Jillian Lane lead the Royals' offense with 23 kills.
The Royals used a balanced attack to stay in the game. Including Lane, five players had 7 kills or more- Jessica Morse had 9 kills, Katrina Rosales with 8, and Ashley Travis and Larissa Niu with 7 each. Niu also passed out 51 assists- the eighth time this season she had 50 or more assists in a match.
On defense, three Royals finished in double digit in digs. Shaina Record lead the way with 17 digs. Lane and Kim Taylor contributed 15 and 11 digs respectively. By reaching double digits in kills and digs, Lane picked up her 17th double-double of the season including the last five straight.
Unfortunately, the Royals could not stop the Mustangs' Roleder sisters- who finished with a combined 50 kills. Amanda had 27 while younger sister Rachel had 23. Rachel also had 3 solo blocks. The Mustangs (14-18, 5-15 GSAC) helped their cause with 10 service aces.
The Royals finish the season with a record of 6-19 and 3-17 in the GSAC. They have an opportunity to return their entire team in 2008 as the 2007 squad had no seniors.
