Coach Roy Green joined the Hope International basketball staff in 2006 with former head coach Greg Pappas. During his tenure at HIU the Royals have built a 120-161 overall record.  Green has helped turn around the program from a 4-26 record in his first season in 2006-07 to a 32-3 record in 2014-15.

Coach Green has a long history of experience prior to his work at HIU. Green began his coaching career at local high schools spanning 1972-78 at San Fernando HS, LA Jordan HS, LA Jefferson HS, Sierra Vista HS, and El Monte HS. Following his time in high school athletics, Coach Green served as an assistant coach at Compton College (1978-80), Cal State LA (1980-85, 90-91), CSU Dominguez Hills (1991-92), and Occidental College (1992-94).

Coach Green returned to his roots with a stint at International Poly HS (1995-96) concurrent with his time coaching at Cal Poly Pomona (1994-99). Coach Green followed his time with stints at Mt. SAC (1999-00), Citrus College (2000-01), and University of La Verne (2001-02) before taking job at LA City College (2002-03). During his time spent as an assistant at LACC the team was crowned the State Champion. His final stop prior to coming on board at HIU was a return to University of La Verne as the assistant men's basketball coach (2003-06).

Coach Green had the opportunity to coach at the Bryon Scott's Basketball camp from 1980-85. Coach Green played high school basketball at Luther Burbank High School in Sacramento before playing one year of collegiate basketball at Cal State LA (1971-72), and afterwards became the head JV Basketball Coach at Cal State LA (1972-1973).

Coach Green served in the Navy as a Seaman from 1968-70 before his time at Cal State LA. Green lives in Chino Hills with his wife Pat Green and worships at The Church of God and Christ in Los Angeles, CA.
