Posted: July 1, 2013

The Psychology and Counseling Department of Hope International University is pleased to announce the official forming of an HIU Chapter of Christian Association for Psychological Studies (CAPS). CAPS is an international professional association that serves as a resource for those in the psychology and counseling profession.

The Psychology and Counseling Department is hosting a kick-off on campus in the Suite 100 Lounge at the Orangewood Campus from 12 – 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. All are invited to attend the event and hear brief presentations on integrating Christian principles and psychology.

When asked about the significance of adding a CAPS chapter at HIU, Brad Overholser, Chair of the Human Development Department and Assistant Professor in the College of Psychology & Counseling said, “The addition of a CAPS chapter represents HIU’s dedication towards Christian biblical studies and the professional/academic study of counseling and psychology. Our CAPS chapter will provide a rich forum from which faculty, students, alumni, clinical professionals and pastors can collaborate and share in-depth consideration of research oriented, therapeutic, theoretical, and theological issues relevant to the advancement of Christian psychological studies. CAPS will provide an excellent academic resource for both HIU and the Christian professional community as well!”
