Housing: HIU Students

The University has traditional residence hall housing available on the Fullerton campus. If you plan on living on campus you must complete and submit a Residence Hall Housing Contract. All rooms have private bathrooms with showers. All resident students are required to have a Bon Appetit meal plan to eat in the University’s Commons Dining Room. The meal plan is already packaged with the housing contract and is included in the housing costs. Please see the Residence Hall Housing Contract to see which meal plans you are eligible for.

All Hope International University students are eligible to live on-campus, although priority is given to those undergraduate students attending Pacific Christian College (PCC).

No married or family housing is available on-campus. Numerous apartment complexes exist near the campus for those eligible to live off-campus.

* HIU student residents who transfer to another institution but still desire to live in the HIU residence halls must go through the entire Non-HIU student application process.

Living Off-Campus

PCC students who are under twenty-one (21) years of age are required to live on-campus unless they are married or commuting from the home of a parent or approved family member. If you are planning on living off-campus, please download the Notification of Living Off-Campus form and submit it to the Housing Office immediately for approval consideration.

Moving Off-Campus

If an HIU student resident should choose to move off-campus and is eligible to do so (see above), they must complete a Release From Housing Contract 30 Day Notice form. Once completed, this form must be submitted to the Housing Office for approval 30 days (minimum) previous to the date, on which the resident plans on moving out.

Housing Extensions

If an HIU student resident is in need of a housing extension for either semester (meaning that they are moving out of the residence halls at the end of the semester, but need to stay after the pre-determined check-out deadline), they must apply for an extension by completing the Housing Extension Request Form and submitting it to the Housing Office by the indicated deadline. The ONLY individuals who qualify for housing extensions are:

  • HIU students who are involved in University academic activities that necessitate an extended stay. These students may stay one day after their last academic commitment (Faculty/Advisor signature required).
  • Graduating seniors may be approved to stay until 5:00 pm the day immediately following graduation.

Housing Renewal

Individuals who lived in the HIU residence halls during the 2008 spring semester and who would like to continue to live in the HIU residence halls for the 2008-2009 academic year must complete and submit a Residence Hall Housing Renewal Contract for the Full Academic Year, 2008-2009. Any student submitting a housing contract after May 1, 2008 will incur a $50 late fee, charged to their existing account.

Summer Housing

HIU does provide summer housing for HIU students who have previously lived in the residence halls. Summer Residence Hall Contracts can be obtained from the Housing Office during the second half of each sprig semester. Summer housing is completely separate from the academic year housing and must be separately paid for. For summer housing prices contact the Housing Office.

2008-2009 Forms

Before you sign and submit any forms, applications or contracts, please be sure you have completely read the entire document.

Should you have any questions about the contracts or residing on campus, please feel free to email us in the Housing Office or call (714) 879-3901 ext. 1643.

The Commons dining hall, located in the Lawson-Fulton Student Center, is open seven days a week to both residential and commuter students during the academic year. All on-campus resident students are required to be on a meal plan. 19, 15, or 10 meal plans are available to students depending on eligibility. Please see Meal Plan Options on your housing contract. Commuter students may purchase a declining debit card or pay at the door.
