TOPICS
Expanding Church Facilities
Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA): Has your church ever been blocked from building by local governments? Come find out about the new rights churches have to expand their buildings and ministries and overcome hostile zoning restrictions.
Moral Issues re Church Employees
Churches and other faith-based organizations have encountered significant challenges in recent years regarding moral failures of clergy and employees. The mere accusation of inappropriate conduct of someone on staff can result in great organizational upheaval. When a minister or employee is removed, the church or a para-church may face a legal battle. This topic will give strategies for dealing with these issues.
The Problem Attendee
Churches are facing moral challenges that only a few years ago were unimaginable. There are those who are attempting to bring the sexual revolution into the church. They are trying to redefine the legal definition of families and are, in some cases, using the courts to force the church to go along with them. Churches also must deal with those who disrupt activities, violent intruders and registered sex offenders.
Evangelism in the Public Square
The First Amendment rights to free speech and the free exercise of religion are crucial protections for the church. Regrettably, in recent years these rights have been under attack – particularly for people of faith. As a pastor, it is important to understand this area of law so that you can fully and effectively minister to the community.
Churches & Politics: Protecting Nonprofit Status
Whenever elections come, pastors are often unsure of what to do or say without facing legal ramifications. This topic should but your mind at rest.
