Alexander Named Men’s Soccer Coach at Hope International
Fullerton, CA-Hope International University is pleased to announce the hiring of Earl Alexander as the next Head Coach of the Men’s Soccer Team. Alexander joins the Royals’ coaching staff with a plethora of coaching experience that ranges from club to high school to college as well as assisting with the operations in the professional soccer ranks.
Last season, the Hope International Men’s Soccer team that Alexander inherits from former Director of Soccer Joe Lurker finished 11-10-1 overall and in fourth place at 5-4-1 in Golden State Athletic Conference play. Theyconcluded their season with a trip to the NCCAA National Tournament for the second time in three years.
As Alexander takes over the men’s program, he currently coaches four club teams (2 boys and 2 girls) for the Laguna Niguel Soccer Club. He also provides technical and tactical assistance to the U8-U19 teams throughout the rest of the club.
Trying his coaching skills at the high school level, Alexander has spent the last two years working with all aspects and levels of the Mater Dei High School Boys Soccer teams. The 2009 season saw the (Varsity) Monarchs finish with a 14-2-7 record while advancing all the way to the CIF Semi-Finals.
Dating back to January 2006 up through Summer 2010, Alexander has served at different times as a coordinator/coach for the All England Soccer Academy, the Director/Coach of South Coast Soccer City (Futsal/Indoor), Operations Assistant for the Los Angeles Blues Professional Soccer Club, and Assistant Coach at California State University Fullerton focusing on fitness.
Prior to coming to America to play soccer from his native country of England, Alexander spent four years as a coach for the Derby County Football Club.
Speaking of playing, Alexander played professionally in the United Soccer League with the Hollywood United and Los Angeles Blues. He made a name for himself locally playing for HIU’s neighbor to the north Cal State Fullerton. He played in all 19 matches with 18 starts for the Titans while scoring three goals with one assist in 2005. He led the team in minutes played.
In the realm of education, Alexander graduated from California State University Fullerton with a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology in May 2007. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sports Studies at the University of Derby (England) in May 2004.
