Tumaini International Ministries presents “Walk for the Kids”

Hope International University (HIU) has been a proud supporter of Tumaini International Ministries since 2007. Tumaini is a nonprofit ministry that brings hope and community to AIDS orphans in Kenya through child sponsorship. Through the support that HIU has provided, five Tumaini students are currently attending HIU and have hope for their futures.

Tumaini is hosting a “Walk for the Kids” on Saturday, May 21, at Millikan High School Stadium in Long Beach. All are invited to participate in this walk around the track (one mile, 4 laps) to bring hope to AIDS orphans in Kenya.

For a registration fee of only $35 per person, participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt and donations will provide education, healthcare, food and clothing for an AIDS orphan in Kenya for one month. Special family pricing of $70 includes 2 shirts (additional shirts are available for $5 each).

Tumaini currently supports over 1100 kids through generous sponsors.  Once a child begins the program, the services continue until they finish high school or the equivalent vocational training.  Occasionally there are gaps in sponsorship support and our goal for the event is to raise $15,000 to cover that gap.  500 walkers will reach this goal and will support 50 unsponsored AIDS orphans for a year.

This non-competitive event will be fun for the whole family with music, carnival games and more! To participate or find out more, sign up at or call 714.671.3907 today.
