On Monday, May 17, 2010, golfers will take to the greens for a day of fun and friendly competition in Hope International University’s 4th annual Golf Marathon Fundraiser. The event will once again be held at Heartwell Golf Course in Long Beach, CA, an 18 Hole, Par 3 course. The tournament is non-scoring and requires golfers to play 3 tee shots per hole for the first 33 holes and 1 tee shot on the 34th hole for a total of 100 holes.

In order to participate in the 100 Hole Golf Marathon, each golfer solicits donations to sponsor their entry in the tournament. The minimum entry fee per golfer is $250, but many golfers raise quite a bit more. As an added incentive, each golfer has a shot at winning the Hole In One Prize, a brand new Lexus valued at $50,000. The event begins at 12 o’clock noon.

Moneys raised will be used toward student scholarships and departmental programs. Sponsor Levels start at $250-$499 (Par Sponsor), $500-$999 (Birdie Sponsor), $1000-$2499 (Eagle Sponsor), $2500-$4999 (Ace Sponsor) and $5000+ (Grand Slam Sponsor). This year’s sponsors include: Del and Ann Harris (Title Sponsor); Bill Avery/Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. (Hole in One Sponsor); Johnson Controls; Farmers & Merchants Bank; Carl Camp/Eclectic Associates; Church Development Fund; and Bon Appetit. Additional sponsorship opportunities are still available. Please contact Michael Mulryan for information.

At the 2009 Golf Marathon, more than $44,000 was raised for student scholarships and department programs, with over $100,000 raised since the first 100 Hole Golf Marathon was held in 2007.
