6/21/08 Fullerton, CA - HIU Announces Opening of New Education Center in Everett, WA
Hope International University joins the University Center of North Puget Sound in Everett, WA, offering bachelor’s degree programs in Human Development (Education or Counseling concentration) and Business Administration beginning in the Fall of 2008. The programs are offered through HIU’s School of Professional Studies (SPS). [Note: The actual majors will begin in March 2009. Online courses avalable now.]
Like all SPS programs, these degrees are designed for the working adult, offering convenient schedules that enable adult students to maintain full-time employment while achieving a degree from Hope. Courses will be offered online in 5-week modules, with 1 Saturday seminar for half the courses. Saturday seminars will be held at the Everett Station in the University Center facilities.
The Human Development program equips students for various helping professions and for graduate studies in counseling, education, and social work. The Management program focuses on preparing students for work in for-profit, non-profit, and governmental organizations. Both programs are aimed at students who have already completed the first two years of their college education. Everett Community College and Hope International University have signed an agreement that enables students with an associate degree the ability to transfer in with two years of college credit.
President John Derry of Hope International University states, “We are excited to be a part of the University Center and to join such outstanding institutions in offering higher education to adult students in Washington.”
Hope International University is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and approved to offer certain degrees in Washington by the Higher Education Coordinating Board. Everett Community College administers the University Center of North Puget Sound with a mission to bring bachelor's and master’s degree programs to North Snohomish, Island, and Skagit counties. “We are pleased to welcome Hope International University as a partner in the University Center” says Christine Kerlin, Executive Director of the University Center. “They are providing a flexible program with on-site student support, both of which are vital ingredients for student success.”
The University Center also partners with Western Washington University, Central Washington University, Eastern Washington University, Evergreen State College, and Washington State University, all of which offer degree programs through the University Center.
Information sessions for Hope will be held June 26 and August 7 at 6 p.m. at the Everett Station.
