B.S. Human Development

Human Development students will learn a diverse set of marketable skills for use in fields related to counseling, teaching or other helping professions.

B.S. in Human Development contains two concentrations to choose from:

Child, Adolescent and Family Studies Concentration

  • The Child, Adolescent & Family Studies concentration is designed to provide students with a broad base of knowledge regarding the physical, cognitive, and social development of children and adolescents.
  • Students with a concentration in Child, Adolescent & Family Studies will be prepared for professions as child life specialists, adoption caseworkers, day care center directors, counselors, elementary teachers, special education teachers and youth services directors. 

Community Mental Health and Counseling Concentration

  • Students with a concentration in Community Mental Health and Counseling will study counseling theories, mental health interventions, abnormal psychology, case management and consultation.
  • Students in the Community Mental Health and Counseling concentration will be prepared for professions in mental health institutions, forensic settings, employee assistance programs, community-based counseling settings, policy settings, research; and graduate studies in counseling or social work.
