Confidentiality

Hope Counseling Center strives to protect your privacy and hold your information in confidence.

In regards to the community and the students, confidentiality means that clinical materials, personal information and issues discussed in therapy will not be disclosed to any other office or individual unless you have signed a written release for this to occur. As Hope International University students your contact with the Counseling Center is confidential and not part of your academic record.

There are, however, exceptions to confidentiality. Some of the exceptions to confidentiality counselors are required by law to report to the proper authorities are all cases in which there is potential harm to yourself or others, instances of suspected child abuse or neglect, elder abuse, and as a result of a court order.

Our overall goal is to make this a place where you will feel safe to talk about personal concerns and to assist you toward emotional healing.
