Position Summary: The Athletic Director (AD) is the Chief Athletics Officer representing the athletics department. This position provides oversight, guidance, and supervision for all aspects of an intercollegiate athletic sports program in accordance with HIU's mission and the guidelines set forth by the GSAC, NAIA, and other regulatory bodies. The AD develops a collaborative and productive partnership between the athletics department and academic affairs, student affairs, enrollment management, university relations, and other administrative units to advance the university's mission through Royals Athletics.

Character: The candidate must demonstrate a vibrant Christian faith as evidenced by active involvement in a local church and must be willing and able to affirm and embody the Christian mission and values of the university as expressed through its Restoration heritage.
Education/Experience: The candidate must possess significant administrative and/or teaching experience, preferably in higher education, and an earned or in-progress master’s degree in a relevant discipline from a regionally accredited college or university. The ideal candidate will have a record of coaching success, a strong record of athletic administration, an understanding of laws that apply to intercollegiate athletics, and familiarity with Title IX. He/she must be able to maintain records and budget control for the department, work cooperatively and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, operate well in a “busy” environment where multiple activities may occur simultaneously, and have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Mental Demands: The ideal candidate will remain positive amid stressful situations, work well with people, express ideas clearly to staff and athletes, maintain confidence in abilities, and remain flexible.
Visual Demands: The ideal candidate should possess the visual ability to read hard copy and computer-generated reports including numbers, letters, and university publications. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision as well as the ability to view computer monitors and read numbers for extended periods.
Physical Demands: The ideal candidate must be able to lift/move up to 60 pounds; Climbing stairs and walking to various offices on campus may be required.
Environment: HIU’s Athletic Department is a very busy, team-oriented, fast-paced environment. The AD must be able to maintain confidential information and maintain extensive contact with students, lenders, other outside agencies, faculty, and staff. The position may require some late hours and weekends.

Hiring Range: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 Annually
