Position Information

Position Summary: The Director of Undergraduate Admissions has overall responsibility for the development and implementation of recruitment and marketing strategies to achieve University undergraduate enrollment goals.  This position provides leadership and administrative direction for the admissions staff.  The Director oversees the daily admissions operation, including staff management, application processing, marketing communications, and all activities that support recruitment.  This position requires strong analytical skills that lead to data-driven decisions, and professional experience in the use of technology to manage information and build relationships with prospective students. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with the VPEM to develop and implement an enrollment management strategy to increase student enrollment and achieve annual new student enrollment goals with a focus on recruiting students who are the right “fit” for HIU.
  • Manage daily operation of the admissions office and hold weekly admissions staff meetings.
  • Develop key performance indicators and regularly monitor metrics that measure marketing initiative effectiveness, including return on investment in such areas as direct mail, interactive lead generation, print, video, and social media.
  • Conduct regular staff performance reviews, setting appropriate accountability goals and providing staff with professional development opportunities.
  • Collect and analyze enrollment data in light of the University’s Strategic Plan and provide regular reports and recommendations to the Vice President for Enrollment Management and the President.
  • Integrate the admissions process with Student Financial Services, Academic Affairs, and Student Affairs to maximize enrollment and ensure a smooth transition of first-time and transfer students to the HIU community.
  • Represent the University professionally and positively at recruitment functions such as college fairs, preview days, community events, and in meetings with students, parents, families, teachers, ministers, and other constituents.
  • Maintain strong ties and connections to high school and community college personnel.
  • Remain knowledgeable of regional and national trends affecting enrollment management.
  • Ensure all admissions decisions, including admission by exception, follow University policy.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Travel & Physical Demands:

The Director of Undergraduate Admissions must be willing to travel within the U.S.

Moderate to, at times, extensive work in the field representing the University and recruiting potential students.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a related field, master’s degree preferred.

Experience in college recruitment.

Knowledge: Organizational development, higher education administration, and spiritual formation.

Skills: Administrative, managerial, leadership, interpersonal, strategic planning, and change agent.

Mental Demands: Multi-tasking, problem-solving, conflict resolution, working with ambiguity.

Physical Demands: Extended intervals at a computer monitor screen; frequent evening and weekend work.

Visual Demands: Extended periods of viewing computer monitor screens.

Environment: Fast-paced office environment; frequent walk-in visits from staff and students.

Character: Must embody Christian character and be actively involved in a local church.

Organizational Relationship:

Reports to Vice President for Enrollment Management

Position Status:

Exempt, Full-time

Hiring Range:

$90,000.00 to $100,000.00 Annually
