The Communication Studies department at Hope International University (HIU) is seeking qualified candidates to add to our part-time adjunct faculty pool. Courses may be online or in person and will depend on departmental needs each semester.
Organizational Relationship: Reports to the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences and the chair of the Communication Studies major.

Responsibilities: Teaching in-person or online undergraduate Communication Studies courses, depending on departmental needs and candidates’ expertise.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Communication Studies (Ph.D. preferred)
Previous College-level teaching experience
Education/Experience: Candidates who have earned a master’s degree in Communication Studies. The successful candidate will also have relevant industry experience and demonstrate teaching ability and expertise.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of Communication Studies, including integration of spiritual and non-secular perspectives; experience with Learning Management Systems required (Canvas preferred)
Mental Demands: Must be able to manage and prioritize teaching load responsibilities and course administration responsibilities
Visual Demands: Some use of computers for class setup and instruction; evaluation of student work; assessment of student learning, composition, editing; and evaluation of various work-related documents
Physical Demands: Long intervals at keyboard and monitor; conveying instructional materials to and from the classroom; demonstrations for instructional purposes may require corresponding physical movements.
Environment: Service-oriented instructional role in an institution of Christian higher education; extensive contact with faculty colleagues, staff, students, and the general public in person, often by phone or email
Character: Candidates should be able to articulate and demonstrate mature Christian faith, in part through commitment to a local Christian church, and embrace the mission of Hope International University.
