Position Information

Organizational Relationship: Reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA)

Position Status: Non-exempt, Full-time (32 weekly hours, generally Monday-Thursday, unless determined otherwise). $25/hour, benefits-eligible.

Position Summary: Provide guidance on student affairs strategy; high-level administrative support to the offices that comprise the Division of Student Affairs; supervise student workers; and general office management.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Model caring relationships with students through personal interaction and as an effective role model of a committed Christian life.
  • Provide strategic advice to the Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) and area directors on how to best serve our students and fulfill departmental objectives.
  • Serve as point leader for key events and initiatives, such as student leadership selection and training, holiday planning, and other seasonal activities.Responsible for the day-to-day organization and administrative support of the various offices that comprise the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Serve as an available source of accurate information for all Student Affairs visitors, including students, faculty, staff, campus guests, parents, etc.
  • Perform administrative and clerical duties of a sometimes complex or demanding nature including heavy flow of phone calls, referrals to appropriate offices or staff, and scheduling appointments when necessary.
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships for effective operations and seamless communication with various University offices.
  • Organize and coordinate office functions and activities, including ordering supplies and requesting office maintenance.
  • Complete requisitions and check requests, credit card reconciliations, and other business office needs for VPSA and area directors.
  • Coordinate all emergency drills and maintain our mass communication system.
  • Oversee the information/reception desk in the lobby of the student center, including the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of information desk student workers.
  • Administrate and “own” responsibility for parking management.
  • Collect and maintain all students’ health immunization and insurance records.
  • Enter student information into various databases and Campus Management software.
  • Attend all staff, departmental, or university-wide functions as directed by the VPSA. · All other duties, as assigned, by the VPSA.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred with administrative support experience or equivalent.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • A vibrant and authentic Christian faith and worldview consistent with the University’s mission and values are required.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft suite of tools, typing skills, and ability to learn and use computer databases.
  • Excellent telephone and inter-personal communication skills.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and clerical skills.
  • Basic supervision skills – ability to manage entry-level student employees.

Mental Demands: Must be able to effectively manage multiple projects, problem solver, organized and detail-oriented, self- directed, able to delegate and prioritize responsibilities, and able to deliver exemplarily customer service.

Visual Demands: Extended hours on a computer monitor screen

Environment: Small office space with many interruptions and lots of people interactions

Character: Must embody Christian character and be actively involved in a local church.
