Position Information
The College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a continuing annual contract Assistant/Associate Professor of History beginning August 2026.
Qualifications:

Ph.D. in History
-
Strong background in research and scholarship in the field of history.

Proficiency and experience in teaching, curriculum design, and assessment of student learning.

Exceptional communication, leadership, and mentorship skills to effectively support student success.

Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a university setting.

Commitment to integrating faith and learning in accordance with the mission of a Christian university.

Experience with diverse instructional methods, including in-person, online, and hybrid teaching models.

Demonstrated dedication to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Anticipated Range of Responsibilities:

· Teach World History survey courses (general education population), as assigned
-
· Teach U.S. History survey courses (major studies students and teacher prep students), as assigned

· Teach upper division California History (major studies students and teacher prep students)

· Teach select, specialized upper division history courses in U.S. History, European History, or African, Asian, or Latin American History, as arranged and assigned

· Experience in teaching Political Science or Criminal Justice courses (as suitably qualified) regarded as an added plus

· Academic Advising for a limited number of undergraduate students majoring in history, political science, or social science

· Administrative assignments in the Social Science Department, as suited

· Engage as a fully contributing participant in CAS faculty meetings
