Who We Are:
Community Christian Church of the Foothills has been a cornerstone in the Tujunga community for over 60 years. We are a congregation of approximately 70 members with an average Sunday attendance of around 50. Our church is a small, conservative Christian Church congregation. As always happens over time, people’s seasons change and our pastor is retiring. So, with a heavy heart, we have begun searching for a new pastor to help guide us into our next season. The church members are a mixed group of people from all walks of life. A church that most visitors say they feel immediately at home. Tujunga has a small town feel even though it’s in the northeast corner of Los Angeles. Tujunga is an excellent community in a beautiful setting within the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains /Angeles National Forest. The church grounds are rather large for the size of the congregation. This allows us to host community events like our Drive-Through Nativity or DTN. This is a yearly event, a performance from the second chapter of Luke. The church is well known for this annual event which has been a beacon of hope and joy for the community for 25 years. Our mission is to continue to share the good news of Jesus Christ and foster a welcoming environment for all. We are a group of believers, who want our next pastor to teach from the Word of God and encourage us to know the Bible better and be in it daily.
Who We Seek:
We are seeking a senior pastor who embodies Christian values as outlined in 1st Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering engaging sermons and nurturing the spiritual growth of our congregation.
Key responsibilities:
1. Spiritual leadership:
- Preach the good news of Jesus Christ and provide biblically grounded teaching.
-Demonstrate a strong personal faith and commitment to Christian principles.
2. Worship and sermon delivery:
- Deliver inspiring and relevant sermons. Our congregation is looking for sermons that are biblically based. We want to be fed the word as we are growing in our walk with God.
3. Pastoral care: - We seek a pastor who is present and approachable – one who is willing to walk along side our congregation in times of personal need and spiritual challenge, offering prayer, counsel, and Christ-centered encouragement.
4. Children's ministry:
- Oversee and enhance our weekly children's ministries. We have a Wednesday night outreach children's ministry that has been very beneficial to families that are not attending our church at this time. We are hoping to grow this ministry and bring more young families into our congregation so that we could be influential in their walk with Jesus.
5. Community and congregational engagement:
- Actively welcome visitors to foster connections within the church community. - Help us build relationships with local residents to promote church involvement and outreach.
6. Local commitment:
- We would like the new pastor to reside within the general vicinity of the church, ideally, the Tujunga, Sunland, or La Crescenta/ Montrose area. On campus housing is available.
7. Vision and growth:
- We're looking for someone who is a self-starter with a clear vision for building upon an existing foundation of The CCC congregation. We need someone who can lead initiatives that promote community outreach and church growth.
