Hope International University has been recognized by the U.S. News and World Report as a 2021 Top Performer on Social Mobility. HIU was listed among the top 25 educational institutions in the West Region, including private, public, and state schools.

Social Mobility is defined as the change in social status relative to one's current social location within a given society. Economically disadvantaged students are less likely than others to finish college. Some colleges are more successful than others at advancing social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of disadvantaged students awarded with Pell Grants. The vast majority of these federal grants are awarded to students whose adjusted gross family incomes are under $50,000.

The U.S. News & World Report rankings is now in their 36th year. Their latest edition assesses 1,452 U.S. bachelor's degree-granting institutions on 17 measures of academic quality.
