Prior to becoming President of Hope International University, Dr. Paul Alexander, a licensed marriage and family therapist, spent years studying and teaching about depression and ministry. The need to develop a curriculum and presentation for this topic has been on Dr. Alexander’s heart, and he was compelled to action after the tragic suicide of a pastor in the Inland Empire last fall.

In response, he has created a powerful, poignant workshop and video series for pastoral staff entitled “Depression & Ministry.” Dr. Alexander has given this seminar at more than a dozen churches in the past year, speaking to more than 1,400 pastors. He also presented it this October at the Spire Conference in Orlando.

Dr. Alexander’s work to address this silent epidemic is featured in Christian Standard magazine, and he is writing an article about “Depression and Ministry” for their February 2020 issue.
