Posted: June 4, 2014

The Fullerton Children's Repertory Theater (FCRT) continues its tradition of producing top Broadway shows with their upcoming performance of Les Mis'rables. The show will run from July 10 -19 at the Pacific Auditorium at Hope International University.

Known for its incredibly popular soundtrack, Les Mis features "I Dreamed a Dream" and "One Day More." The original Broadway production was nominated for 10 Tony Awards and won 8, including Best Musical and Best Original Score.

Based on Victor Hugo"s epic novel, Les Mis"rables follows escaped convict Jean Valjean as he searches for redemption while being pursued by the relentless police captain, Javert. Valjean, who was imprisoned for 19 years for stealing a loaf of bread, breaks parole to start his life anew, eventually becoming a mayor. The decades-long conflict between the two men brings them both into contact with a host of other desperate characters during France's tumultuous revolutionary period.

Since 1983 FCRT has been providing North Orange County youth with an opportunity to experience American musical theater. In 2012, the company began a partnership with HIU that allows FCRT to continue its traditions in Hope's beautiful Pacific Auditorium.
