HIU's annual Spirit of Hope Celebrity Concert & Awards Gala will be held on Saturday, September 27, in the Grand Ballroom at the Disneyland Hotel. Gala guests will enjoy an elegant evening of gourmet dining and live performances by recording artists Scott MacIntyre and HIU alum Tyrone Wells. President Dr. John L. Derry will present special awards to notable members of the HIU community and share an update on the university, including the status of HIU's Ignite Hope Capital Campaign.
Since becoming the first blind finalist on American Idol, Scott MacIntyre has become an acclaimed singer-songwriter and has toured all over the world. He has performed with notable acts including Jason Mraz and the Jonas Brothers. He writes about how he learned to face his fears and overcome obstacles in his new book By Faith, Not By Sight. He also recently released a single called "Fifty Second Chances."
Tyrone Wells ("98) started his music career with a band called Skypark while attending HIU. Since then, he has released two major label albums with Universal Republic Records and has gotten over 50 placements in film and TV. His albums "Metal and Wood" (2010) and "Where We Meet" (2012) were the #1 iTunes Singer Songwriter albums for the year. He recently released a new album titled "This is Love".
