Posted: December 11, 2018

The HIU College of Business & Management proudly announces the induction of seven new members into our chapter of the Sigma Beta Delta (SBD) International Honors Society, including 1 undergraduate student, 4 graduate students, and 2 faculty members. The Fall 2018 honorees mark the third group inducted into HIU’s SBD chapter.

Membership in Sigma Beta Delta is the highest national recognition a business student can receive at a college or university with a SBD chapter. To be considered eligible for membership, students must rank in the top twenty percent of their respective undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral degree program and be invited by the SBD officers.

HIU’s College of Business and Management congratulates our Fall 2018 Sigma Beta Delta inductees who have attained excellence in their academic and professional careers in business:

  • Rebekah Hagerty

  • Kayla A. Canning
  • Jocelyn S. Carlson
  • Andrew L. Hesse
  • Martin J. Singh

  • Professor Jeremiah Smith
  • Dr. James D. Woest

These new members were charged with maintaining and enhancing the high ideals of wisdom, honor, and aspiration in their professional and personal life journeys. Graduating students will be recognized at the Fall 2018 Commencement Banquet.

The mission of Sigma Beta Delta is to encourage and recognize scholarship and accomplishment, to encourage and promote aspirations toward personal and professional improvement, and to live a life distinguished by honorable service to humankind. Sigma Beta Delta was established to honor students who have attained superior records in business programs in schools and colleges with regional accreditation.

Sigma Beta Delta serves institutions that offer baccalaureate and graduate degrees in business, management, and administration where the institution holds accreditation from one of the six regional accrediting bodies but not specialized accreditation in business. To date, Sigma Beta Delta has installed over 450 chapters in 48 states while inducting over 90,000 members worldwide.
