Posted: March 29, 2022

HIU is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Carl Toney as the next Dean of Pacific Christian College of Ministry & Biblical Studies. Dr. Toney has served in church ministry for the past 25 years, while concurrently teaching as a Professor of Biblical Studies (since 2011) and serving as Chair of the Ministry Graduate Programs. He succeeds Dr.Tim Dally, who will continue at HIU as a Professor of Ministry and Biblical Studies.

“I am humbled and excited for this opportunity to be the new Dean of Pacific Christian College of Ministry and Biblical Studies,” Dr. Toney shares. “I have been involved in church ministry ranging from being a missionary in Eswatini to working as a youth pastor in a Japanese church to working with senior adults. I have served at churches ranging from 100 people to several thousand. Since joining HIU in 2011, I have been the Chair of the Graduate Ministry Program. During that time, I was mentored by Dr. Joe Grana, and I benefited from the rich community of HIU’s faculty, staff, and students. Now, as Dean, I will draw from my years of ministerial and educational experience and work alongside our students, faculty, and staff to inspire a fresh vision that is centered upon Christ and rooted in our legacy of serving the church as we seek to impact our world for Christ.”

Dr. Steve Edgington, Vice President of Academic Affairs, remarked, “Dr. Toney brings to his new role sterling academic credentials and accomplishments, a deep commitment to ministry and ministry preparation that is anchored in Biblical authority, and permeated with love for the church and its mission. We look forward to enjoying the fruit of his leadership.”
