MAJOR(s) MILESTONE: Former Royal Pitches in the Big Leagues

Posted: May 29, 2025

For the first time in HIU Royals Athletics history, a baseball program alumnus is playing for a Major League Baseball team. David Morgan (’22) was called up to the San Diego Padres for the 2025 season and made his pitching debut on May 29, facing the Miami Marlins. Morgan is the first Royal in school history to be called up to one of the top professional leagues in the United States.

Morgan surrendered a homer to the first hitter he faced, but responded by striking out the next 3 batters. In his second MLB outing, he was called upon in a one-run game in the eighth inning. He threw six pitches and recorded two outs. All three of his fastballs clocked at 99 mph.
