Jan 16, 2020 08:00 AM - Jan 18, 2020 06:00 PM

Fullerton Campus

Each January, Hope International University offers amazing opportunities for Christian leaders to further grow in their leadership and discipleship potential. Over the course of three days, we offer live seminars on our main campus in Fullerton, CA where we bring together world-class, dynamic speakers and respected ministry leaders to help attendees take their ministries to the next level. In 2020, the first session (Thurs-Fri) focuses upon Leadership Styles and Principles and includes a luncheon with Dr. Paul Alexander, president of HIU. The second session (Fri-Sat) on World Religions will help you engage with your community and reach your world for Christ.

PART ONE: Leadership Styles & Principles  (JAN 16, 8am-6pm & JAN 17, 8am-11am)

Special guest speakers -- including Caleb KaltenbachTraci Morrow, and pastors Gene AppelAshley WooldridgeLisa Toney, Jason Phillips, and Katie Matsumoto -- who will cover relevant topics including conflicts & crisis, teams, biblical insights into leadership, the Enneagram, vision casting & catching, LGBTQ+ and the church, and reaching Gen Z. We will also equip attendees with tools to address the important issue of depression and suicide among pastors.

PART TWO: World Religions (JAN 17, 11am-6pm & JAN 18, 8am-6pm)

Long gone are the days when only the explorer, missionary, or anthropologist came into contact with people of other faiths. In America, people of other faiths are our neighbors, our colleagues, our doctors, and hopefully, our friends. This seminar will feature sessions on Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism. Guest speakers will include representatives of those religions to come speak with us, and we also will visit a mosque and synagogue. Our goal is to hear first-hand from the groups in order to better understand them and equip ourselves and our churches for sharing the gospel in love. Our primary speaker for the World Religions course is Dr. Kip Lines, who is the CEO of Christian Missionary Fellowship.

President’s Luncheon

We are excited to have a luncheon that will be hosted by Dr. Paul Alexander, President of Hope International University. Dr. Alexander is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He completed his doctoral work in organizational leadership at Regent University. The lead professor for these Onsite Seminars is Dr. Carl Toney, Chair of the Graduate Ministry Program. He brings over twenty years of teaching and ministry experience, including nine months as a missionary, and working as an associate pastor in churches ranging from 100 to 5,000 members. He is the author of several books including New Testament Foundations and the Second Corinthians Cornerstone Commentary.
