Kaye C. Lindsey (BS '78), CPCU, is Operations Vice President for State Farm Insurance Companies - California Zone. She has state-wide responsibility for Claims, Underwriting, and the General Departments of Human Resources, Public Affairs, Finance, Administrative Services, and Learning and Development. Her team consists of four vice-presidents, 4200 employees and she has oversees a budget of $698 million.
Lindsey graduated from Pacific Christian College in 1978 with a B.S. in Business Management and a J.D. from Western State University of Law in Fullerton, CA in 1989. She remembers her time at Hope as an essential time of preparation for her successful career that lay ahead, “In addition to an outstanding academic preparation, Hope helped me to develop the strength and skills to deal with worldly issues from a spiritual perspective. My role requires me to make decisions that impact many lives and Hope helped me understand how to bring the characteristics of servant leadership to life. Keeping God at the center, I have been able to balance my heart for people and the need to make business decisions with compassion and conscience.”
Lindsey joined State Farm in 1972 as a claim service assistant in San Diego, CA. She has worked in various positions with State Farm including claim manager, vice president, executive assistant, and more, all before assuming her current position as Operations Vice President in 2002.
“Probably the most important experiences I had at Hope,” says Lindsey, “were all centered on the relationships I had with my Professors and the staff. The campus is alive with people who follow God and they were consistently role models of Christ-like behavior. I always felt like they were a team of coaches all focused on bringing out the best in me, both academically and spiritually.
In the class room, we were all supported equally and encouraged to lean on and learn from one another. The classroom was a place where we completed each other versus competing with each other. This helped to nurture my budding leadership skills in coaching and developing others to lead to mutual success.”
Lindsey’s advice to students who are considering attending Hope is this: “If you want an environment that values you as an individual, values diversity and academic excellence, then Hope should be at the top of your list. You will be challenged but supported. You will have the benefit of small class sizes, individual attention and the guidance and love of Godly leaders to become the best you can be.”
Lindsey’s husband, Roosevelt, is an Agency Field Executive in the Ventura County Agency Field Office in Thousand Oaks, CA. They have a daughter and two grandchildren.
