On Monday, May 14, 2012, golfers will take to the greens for a day of fun and friendly competition in Hope International University’s 6th annual Golf Marathon Fundraiser. The event will be held at Heartwell Golf Course in Long Beach, CA, an 18 Hole, executive Par 3 course. The tournament is non-scoring and requires golfers play 3 tee shots per hole for the first 33 holes and 1 tee shot on the 34th hole for a total of 100 holes.

To participate, each golfer solicits donations to sponsor their entry in the tournament. The minimum entry fee per golfer is $250. Some golfers have raised over $5,000. As an added incentive, each golfer has a shot at winning the Hole-in-One prize – a $50,000 2012 Lexus. Players will also compete in a putting contest where the winner has the opportunity to make a putt worth $3,000. The event begins at 12 o’clock noon. Golfers receive many commemorative gift items in addition to prizes awarded at the after tournament dinner at Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Q.

Monies raised will be used toward student scholarships and departmental programs. Sponsor Levels start at $250-$499 (Par Sponsor), $500-$999 (Birdie Sponsor), $1000-$2499 (Eagle Sponsor), $2500-$4999 (Ace Sponsor), $5000-$7499 (Club House Sponsor), $7500+ (Grand Slam Sponsor). This year’s sponsors include: Del and Ann Harris (Eagle Sponsor); Eclectic Associates; Scott Dowds - Farmers & Merchants Bank; and Eric Modrell - Proline Electric.
