Lead Pastor

Camarillo Christian Church

Position Information

Camarillo Christian Church (CCC) is seeking a committed Christian leader to serve in the role of Lead Pastor with a background serving in Christian Church (Restoration Movement). The Lead Pastor will lead our ministry staff and congregation in effectively ministering to and serving the people in the greater Camarillo Area. The Lead Pastor will be the lead visionary, communicator, preacher, and teacher, while encouraging and developing these traits in all CCC attendees.

CCC is searching for a Lead Pastor committed to the inerrancy and authority of the Bible, upholds our Statement of Faith and will lead our church on the strong foundations of Biblical authority. We desire a man who is being transformed by God’s Word himself, as he leads our congregation to be transformed by God’s Word as well. He will preach Biblical sermons. He will be relational in his delivery, and firm in his conviction.

Our next Lead Pastor will be easily approachable, a man who is skilled in relationship building. He will lead our staff with a team-based approach but will steward well the authority of the office of Lead Pastor for all matters of final say. He will value the concerns of both new attendees and long-time members of the church. He will partner with the Shepherd Board to make biblical decisions concerning the direction of the church and communicate them with grace while leading gently over time.

CCC is a Shepherd-led church, working in close partnership with the Lead Pastor. The Lead Pastor reports directly to the Shepherd Board. We desire our Lead Pastor and Board to work together to create effective programs to bring the unsaved to Christ and to deepen our congregation members’ relationship with Christ. Our Lead Pastor will have direct supervisory responsibility over other Pastoral positions at CCC.

What our Lead Pastor does:

  • Fulfill the Biblical mandate of the pastor to “prepare God’s people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up” (Ephesians 4:12) by providing spiritual leadership to church staff and congregation. We expect this will be shown through service as shepherd, evangelist, teacher, steward, and staff overseer.
  • Preach during congregational worship on most Sunday mornings, being the main pulpit voice to proclaim the gospel and challenge the congregation to more fully accomplish our mission.
  • Provide Biblical teaching in other congregational settings as appropriate.
  • Lead and guide the church staff to maximize the effectiveness of each staff member.
  • Partner with, and pastor the Shepherds, staff, and ministry team leaders to wisely use the resources of the congregation and generate new resources to maximize the effectiveness of the church.
  • Oversee pastoral care ministries so that the church cares for the needs of each part of the body.
  • Display a genuine interest in the spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being of church members.

Who our Lead Pastor is personally:

  • Dedicated to the Lord Jesus Christ and the success of the gospel.
  • Committed to the authority of God, as revealed in the Bible, for Christian belief and living.
  • Actively growing spiritually and professionally.
  • Models Christian commitment and Christian living.
  • Maintains a balance in his life among his devotion to God, family and our church.
