The Hope International University Model UN team will be making their annual trip to Boston, MA for the Harvard National Model United Nations conference. The four day conference runs from February 14 – 17 and boasts students from 3,000 colleges and universities from over 40 nations. HIU will be representing the country of Cambodia.

This year’s delegation consists of 15 of HIU’s top students: Jacob Austin, McKenzie Austin, Jordan Escoto, Thomas Kleinendorst, Hillary Lamont, Lindsey Miller, Judy Nzeki, Agnes Park, Kasey Philyaw, Kyley Rouse, David Scotti, Jesse Shepherd, Kristi Simpson, Maria Watkins, and Grace Walkman.

Joining the team of students are faculty advisers Dr. Steve Edgington, Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, and Dr. Roberto Sirvent, Assistant Professor. In addition, three HIU and Model UN alumni are also accompanying the team: Neil Baker (BA ’12), Heather Hicks (BA ’11) and Ryan McKinney (BA ’11).

At Model UN, delegations work to get their position heard by presenting persuasive arguments in front of a large committee or creating resolutions with other delegations to present to the committee together.
